Tundra Esports is the new Dota World Champion. The European team prevailed at the eleventh "The International" with a score of 3:0 against Team Secret. The prize money, which is largely fan-funded, is just under $US8.5 million (about $US8.5 million) for the winners.

"I would like to thank everyone who came here and supported us. Thanks for watching," Tundra captain Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun said in the winner's interview. "It's surreal, I have to process all the emotions first, it's just wild," added his teammate Oliver "skiter" Lepko.

Tundras Midlaner comes from Canada

The Canadian-Russian midlaner Leon "Nine" Kirilin is also part of the world championship team. "Get good - get better," he remarked dryly. His name and that of his teammates will be the last to be engraved on the current World Cup trophy, because there is only room for one team on this one.

In the best-of-five final of the World Cup, tundra seemed clearly superior. In the first game, Secret was out of chances, and was able to prove himself as a serious opponent only in the second game. Ultimately, however, Tundra also won the second point. In the third game, the lead changed many times until the middle stage of the game. But Tundra had the better heroes in the late game and completed the "Clean sweep".

No second Dota World Title for Puppey

After a Group B win, Tundra took a dominant path through the Upper Bracket. Both OG and Team Aster had relegated the team to the lower half of the tournament with a score of 2:0. Team Secret had already been sent there by the later world Champions with a score of 2: 1 in the Upper Bracket Final.

Despite the lost final, Secret has exceeded expectations. After a disappointing season in the Western European Dota Pro Circuit, the team of Clement "Puppey" Ivanov repositioned itself in terms of personnel and reached the World Cup just above the last chance qualifier.

The top three teams at the Dota World Cup all came from Western Europe. Although the WEU-DPC is considered very strong, analysts also counted on the Chinese teams, especially PSG.LGD, better odds out.
