With a big grin on his face, Team Queso's coach Nicholas "Nick" Marrone said goodbye to the interview after the final: "See you at the Major". With the victory of his team at the first tournament of the RLCS winter split, the first big step has already been taken.
In the winter season, Team Queso had only made it out of the group stage once before. But at the opening tournament of the current year in Europe, the Spanish team showed itself from a new side. Queso finished the group stage undefeated and even defeated major winner BDS 4-0 in the knockout round. In the final, the team prevailed just as clearly with 4:1 against Dignitas.
Coach Nick explained the simple concept of success after the final: "They are young players who train more than others and want to reach the top. We also have a very strong team spirit. This is also very important.»
Major winner BDS finishes the tournament in third place. After the significant 0:4 defeat in the Upper Bracket final against Queso, the Swiss lost again in the lower half of the tournament with 0:4 against Dignitas.
