Kim "herO" Joon-ho has won the second season edition of the Global Starcraft 2 League Code S. It is the first triumph of a Protoss player in five years. In the final, herO met fearsome opponent Cho "Maru" Seong-ju.
herO has already failed the Terran player nine times. He was all the happier after the important victory in the final (4:1).
"Just like you are surprised, I am surprised myself," the Korean said in the winning interview, according to a translation of the GSL stream. With a grin, herO lifted the coveted trophy into the air in the golden confetti rain. His wife could not hold back her tears of joy in the audience. "My last title was a long time ago, I think that's why she's crying. I'm trying to win more tournaments from now on," herO said to his family.
It was a bitter defeat for Maru. Once again, the exceptional talent missed the chance to set a GSL record. He has already won four Code-S titles, a fifth tournament victory would be a novelty for the highest Korean league. Maru has already failed in the final three times in a row.
