Team Heretics will compete in the European League of Legends League LEC from 2023. The Spanish e-sports organization is buying the launch site of Misfits Gaming, LoL developer Riot Games announced on Wednesday. Initially, nothing was known about the purchase price and contract details.
Misfits has been part of the European league since 2016, but has rarely been able to play at the top. The organization is also hiring its team in the French league LFL - effectively, Misfits is leaving League of Legends completely. The players still have contracts with misfits until the end of the season.
Heretics was founded in 2016 by influencer Jorge "Goorgo" Orejudo. In 2017, the organization already tried to qualify for a place in the European league, but failed. In the Spanish Super League, the organization's LoL team is currently at the top of the standings.
For the future, the LEC also wants to focus on regional talents, according to an announcement stream of the organization. They want to keep the team in the Superliga in the future.
