Canadian Starcraft 2 professional Tobias "ShoWTimE" Sieber has been eliminated at the IEM Katowice in the group stage.
In the run-up to the tournament, ShoWTimE was optimistic. He was excited because he had not played an offline tournament for a long time. "But other than that, I'm confident that I can do well if I play my top level," he said at the request of the German Press Agency.
The player from BIG just barely missed the playoffs. Group winner Joona "Serral" Sotala didn't give up a map in his five matches (5-0). Park "Dark" Ryung-woo followed closely behind (4-1).
Kim "Ryung" Dong-won secured the last of the group's three playoff tickets. ShoWTimE recorded the same ratio with two wins (2-3) and won against the Korean, but the Canadian had the worse overall record according to Maps.
The IEM Katowice is the final of the ESL Pro Tour and thus synonymous with a World Championship in Starcraft 2.
