Rogue is the only European team to reach the quarter-finals of the League of Legends World Championship. With three defeats in a row, the last group matchday for the LEC champion did not go according to plan.
"It doesn't really feel like a reason to celebrate," Rogues toplaner Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu said in an interview after the last game of the day. "Losing three games in a row feels really bad.»
Rogue went unbeaten in the last matchday of Group C and thus had the best chance of progressing. In the first match of the day, the LEC champion continued his winning streak against GAM Esports and thus consolidated his place at the top of the table. With a tight, surprising victory by GAM over Top Esports, Rogue's place in the quarterfinals was already secure.
After that, things went downhill for Rogue: the team clearly lost the next two games and then had to fight DRX in a tiebreaker for the group victory. Rogue was overrun by DRX in just 24 minutes - the team from Korea is thus the group first in the knockout round, Rogue remains the only European team in the tournament.
