The Valorant Champions Tour makes use of League of Legends: New teams that want to make it to the European Challengers tournaments will have to prove themselves in regional leagues in the future. A league for the German-speaking countries is also planned.
"We learned a lot from the concept of the European regional leagues and definitely learned a few things," said Daniel Ringland, Head of Valorant Esports in Europe, at a press conference from developer Riot Games. "The Champions Tour will cover the entire path from amateur to professional level.»
An open qualifying tournament for the Challenger competitions is to be held one last time before the next Challenger competition. This will then be replaced by a promotion tournament in which the regional champions will compete against the two last-placed Challenger teams for qualification.
A European tournament similar to the LoL European Masters with the respective regional champions is also planned for the end of the year. Only at a later date, the regional leagues should also come to other regions.
