Optic Gaming has won the first Valorant Masters of the year. The team from the USA secured the title with a 3-0 success in the final against the Brazilians from Loud.

"It feels good. The victory means a lot to us, " said the happy Optic professional Victor "Victor" Wong in the stream of the tournament.

In the end, it was not an easy victory – the 3:0 final score according to Maps (13:9; 14:12; 15:13) looks clearer than the game was. Two maps, Bind in the second and Breeze in the third game, were decided only in extra time.

Optic Gaming: From Valorant newcomer to Masters winner

For the e-sports organization, it is the preliminary highlight since entering the Valorant scene at the beginning of February. At that time, one day before the start of the North American challenger, Optic had committed the roster that had been starting for Team Envy until then. The deal was not a surprise coup, but a partnership between the two organizations, which was decided at the end of 2021.

From a sporting point of view, the title is less surprising. The team has been active internationally before. Still starting as Team Envy, the professionals finished second at the Masters Berlin in September. A defeat that motivated the team according to Victor: "At the Masters Berlin we were on the losing side. We know how it feels. That's what brought us here.»

VCT Masters: no fans on site, but in the stream

As at the first Masters a year ago, also played in Reykjavik, no spectators were allowed in the Icelandic location at the kick-off this year. Instead, fans around the world were able to watch the final via livestream.
