Nigma Galaxy and Boom Esports have won the group stage of the gamer Galaxy Dota Invitational. In the first international offline tournament since the Dota World Championship, Fnatic is eliminated after the group stage.
World champion Team Spirit was only able to stay in the tournament with a final score of 2:2, but passed the play-in phase confidently against Nigma Galaxy SEA. Team Secret was also able to knock out the winners of the North American Dota Pro Circuit TSM from the tournament there.
The ongoing war in Ukraine also negatively affects the invitational. Team Spirit and OG had to find replacement players for a Ukrainian and Russian teammate at short notice.
Virtus Pro was excluded from the organizer of the event. Russian entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov, who has been on the EU sanctions list since the attack on Ukraine, indirectly owns shares in the team through a holding company.
