After the audience was allowed in the studio again in the final of the spring season of the European League of Legends league LEC after two years, this could also be the case in the summer season.

"The honest answer is: I hope so," Maximilian Schmidt, Head of LoL Esports in Europe at Riot Games, said in an interview with the German press Agency. "As far as the current development is concerned, I am relatively optimistic." The decision will depend heavily on the legislation.

It was a long way before the fans were allowed to return to the studio: Riot had always set stricter guidelines than would have been allowed by law. Also on the final weekend, when about 200 fans were able to enter the studio again, there was a strictly controlled mask requirement and the vaccination or test certificates were checked.

However, there was hardly any negative feedback on the stricter handling. "People rather appreciated how conscientiously we dealt with the issue." In the background, the situation is re-evaluated weekly and measures are implemented by the production team. "We are trying to get back to the old status quo bit by bit," says Schmidt with a view to the future.
