Karmine Corp has won the European League of Legends tournament European Masters for the third time in a row. In the final against the French rival LDLC OL, the team stumbled only briefly and prevailed with a score of 3:1.
"We've already had to show a lot of mental strength in difficult moments this year, and that hasn't been the case with LDLC yet," Kcorp's star botlaner Martin "Rekkles" Larsson said in an interview after the game. "The difficulties helped us to become the team we are now, and we were able to show the best version of ourselves.»
Undefeated opponent LDLC beats first
As the defending champions, Kcorp was one of the top favorites for the title in the second division under the LEC, but had only made it to third place in the domestic LFL in the playoffs. But that was probably also due to the strength of the league, which now represented three of the four semi-finalists at the EU Masters.
Also in the final there was a French duel against the champion team LDLC OL, which Kcorp had also defeated in the LFL and was so far undefeated in the current tournament. This series also continued LDLC in a closely contested first game at first, with a Baron making the difference in the end.
Kcorp stronger in competitive games
For the second game, Kcorp showed improvement, but LDLC always stayed on the trigger and was the better team again at times. With the ancestral dragon, however, Kcorp was able to secure the equalizer despite the gap, and went into the lead after a convincing third game.
This meant that only one game was missing to win the title again. LDLC kept the fourth game balanced for a long time, but a fight for the ancestral dragon broke the challenger's neck. For Rekkles, Kcorp's victory in the final after four LEC titles thus became the first triumph at the EU Masters.
