FC Ingolstadt was not eligible to play for the VBL Club Championship for two years. Now the FIFA team is back and has directly qualified for the final tournament for the championship.
At the end of the regular season, the FCI celebrated a victory against the reigning VBL champion from 1. FC Heidenheim and is in first place in the South-East division with 130 points.
However, Ingolstadt may still be pushed out of the top of the table. In the case of pursuer RB Leipzig, currently second, the double game of the game against SV Sandhausen is still pending. This could not take place on Wednesday and will be made up for. However, both teams are qualified for the final tournament of the VBL Club Championship.
The race for places three to six, which entitle them to participate in the playoffs of the VBL CC, was similarly close. TSG Hoffenheim experienced a tailor-made matchday here. Thanks to the victories against Ingolstadt and Nuremberg, which also qualified for the playoffs, they jumped from sixth to fourth place.
Also in the playoffs: FC Augsburg and defending champion Heidenheim. Hertha BSC narrowly missed the VBL playoffs. Three points separate the capital club from the playoff ranks in seventh place.
