With his new team G2 Esports, Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik has won his first title in the European League of Legends League LEC. In an interview with the German Press Agency, the Canadian talks about the team dynamics at G2 and the opportunities at the mid-Season Invitational.

Question: You have developed massively as a team through the playoffs. When was the point when it "clicked"?

Answer: The point has always been there. After the defeat against Fnatic, we knew that something had to be changed. At that time we were actually just as good as we are now, but not yet ready. We have learned a lot from this. In any case, this is due to the players and the ambitions that everyone has. It feels great to be able to play with such players.

G2 Esports: Open Communication and Fun

Question: It looks like G2 needed a breath of fresh air that you brought in - what is the team atmosphere like at the moment?

Answer: I am a personality who is very open and has a lot of fun. If you have players who are the same, then you just click very well. In this team, this is exactly the case. We can have a lot of fun, but also stay serious. That's the most important point: you have to find a balance and that's exactly what we have.

Question: How do you deal with defeats and criticism in the team?

Answer: At the end of the regular season, we also had some problems. But as a team and as players, it's our job to solve them. Every player with us does not have the ego not to solve the problem. I think this actually saved us in the end. This is because we can talk so openly with each other - not only with each other but also with the coaching staff.

G2 at MSI: full confidence in teammates

Question: Now you are going to the Mid-Season Invitational as a LEC representative, how do you assess your chances?

Answer: I think we can achieve everything. G2 has done it before, why not again? If you play in a tournament where there are only winning teams, then you have to get better. It will be a race to see who will be the best in the end and we will give everything to get better. It's not going to be easy, but if it's with my teammates, then I have full confidence.

About the person: League of Legends professional Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik (22) has been playing at G2 Esports since this season. He has already won the title with TSM in the North American LCS and has now been crowned champion with G2 in the LEC.
