The European team G2 Esports is in the semi-finals of the League of Legends tournament Mid-Season Invitational. However, after five defeats in a row, it became close to the end.

"I'm glad that we can finish the Rumble Stage with a win," Canadian Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik of G2 Esports said in an interview after the match against Evil Geniuses. "Now that we have lost the previous games, we can learn from the defeats. I think that makes us better.»

For G2, the Rumble Stage was much more concise than initially thought. After a strong start, the LEC Champion's winning streak against PSG Talon from Hong Kong broke on the third day of the Rumble Stage. After that, G2 did not succeed: with four defeats in a row, the team went into the last matchday with a difficult starting situation.

Against outsider Saigon Buffalo from Vietnam, the next defeat followed for G2 and thus tightened the race for progress. Both RNG from China, as well as the Korean champion T1 and Evil Geniuses from North America were already in the semifinals at that time.

But G2 was able to breathe a sigh of relief: in the end, the European champion qualified for the knockout round thanks to a victory by RNG over PSG. G2 then recovered against EG and ended their own losing streak at the end of the Rumble Stage.

In the semifinals on Saturday, the European representative will again face T1. "I'm very happy right now. We are confident going into the next round," Broken Blade said with a view to the knockout round.
