G2 Esports has made a perfect start to the international League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational tournament. At the halfway point of the group stage, the team remains unbeaten and is clearly at the top of its group.
"It is to be expected that we will make it to the Rumble Stage," G2s jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski said in an interview after the game. "As long as we play our game, it will work. But there are still many things we need to improve.»
MSI: G2 with flawless first round
From the very beginning, G2 was considered the favorite in the group of three with Evil Geniuses from North America and the Australian team Order. Only against the rival EG it was on the second matchday for G2 after a failed team fight it was tighter than previously expected. But the team around Jankos kept their nerve and did not let the victory take away from them.
With a dominant performance against Order on the third matchday, G2 made the first round perfect and thus sets itself further apart from the two opponents. After a bumpy start, however, EG um ex-LEC player Kacper "Inspired" Słoma slowly picked up speed and is currently comfortably in second place in the group.
In the other two groups, the favorites also crystallized clearly at halftime: both the Korean champion T1 and the Chinese defending champion RNG remained unbeaten at halftime. Behind the favorites, however, the battle for entry into the Rumble Stage between the other teams continues to intensify.
