G2 Esports has made a perfect start to the summer season of the European League of Legends League LEC. MAD Lions and Astralis are also convincing, but spring finalist Rogue is still struggling with his form.
"I'm very happy with our result," G2's Rasmus "caPs" Winther said in an interview after the match against Excel Esports. "We are still trying different things at the moment, but that seems to have worked out so far. Hopefully we can maintain that.»
G2 was not impressed by the clear result at the international tournament Mid-Season Invitational as well as the shortened break: with the victory over Excel, the defending champion is undefeated at the top of the table after the "Super Week".
LEC: MAD Lions with a strong start
MAD seems to have recovered with new signing Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer after a disappointing spring season. The 2021 LEC champion showed a convincing performance at the start with two victories. Against a previously winless Rogue, the team headed for the third victory of the game week, but had to admit defeat after a botched team fight.
The spring finalist, however, can not build on the performance from the previous season. After two heavy defeats against G2 and Fnatic, Rogue was just able to break away from the end of the table with the victory over MAD.
Misfits Gaming is also currently struggling with its form and was left without a win. Astralis, however, caused a surprise: with three new additions, the team was able to assert itself and ranks behind G2 with only one defeat.
