G2 Esports has declared itself the champion of the European League of Legends League LEC for the ninth time. In front of around 200 people in the audience, the team based in Berlin swept the opponent Rogue 3: 0 off the pitch in a one-sided series.

"It's an indescribable feeling to win," G2s Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik said in an interview with the German Press Agency after the final. "The fans make the whole thing ten times better. It just feels right," said the Canadian player, who only joined G2 this season.

Both teams started the final series aggressively. Fights took place across the entire playing field, through which G2 slowly gained an advantage. The team then transferred this to the first victory of the best-of-five series.

LEC Final: G2 dominant against Rogue

Game two was also dominated by G2. Rogue was more active, but had to give in to the pressure of G2 again.

The third match was thus the first match point for G2. But Rogue showed his fighting spirit: the team surprised the opponent and was rewarded with an early advantage. However, G2 was not unsettled by this and found a way back again.

The atmosphere in the Berlin LEC studio was tense - Rogue needed a real miracle to shoot the game yet. Although the team was still hesitant about the victory of G2, in the end, the multiple champion was able to clearly win the series for himself.

G2 with a new lineup: expectations exceeded

After a disastrous season in 2021 and the missed qualification for the World Cup, G2 had replaced three of the five players in 2023 and bet on younger, more inexperienced players.

Apart from the G2 veterans Rasmus "caPs" Winther and Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski, it is the first title for the young team - also for the German Broken Blade. By winning the title, the team exceeds expectations for many.

G2 has thus also qualified for the international tournament Mid-Season Invitational in South Korea. There the team will meet the winners of all regional leagues, including the Korean champion T1 led by LoL legend Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok.
