Fnatic is eliminated at the League of Legends World Championship in the group stage. After a winless last group match, the LEC representative missed the chance to enter the knockout round.
"That's it for us at Worlds," Canadian Botlaner Elias "Upset" Lipp of Fnatic wrote on Twitter after the elimination. Before the last group matchday, Fnatic was on an equal footing with T1 from Korea and the reigning world champion Edward Gaming in the table and thus actually still had the best chances to advance.
But it was a black day for Fnatic: right in the first game of the day, the LEC representative Cloud9 from North America was clearly defeated. Against T1, the European team managed another surprising victory in the first round, but this time it was not enough. The defeat against EDG then meant the final end for Fnatic at the World Cup.
T1, meanwhile, marched through the matchday undefeated and secured the top of the table and the entry into the quarterfinals with a record of 5-1. Also in the next round is EDG. In addition to Fnatic, C9 also finished last in the standings at the World Cup. From the LEC, G2 Esports and Champion Rogue will remain in the tournament.
