That was close: in the playoffs of the European League of Legends League, Fnatic turned a 2-0 deficit against Excel into a 3-2 deficit and averted an early exit just like that. The six-time champion still has the chance to qualify for the World Championship after the "reverse sweep".

"We all believed that we could still shoot it. That's why we didn't give up," Fnatics jungler Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz said in an interview after the game. "The third game was so close, if they had won it would have been a clear 3:0 for them and we would have looked bad. But we won it and played better afterwards.»

LEC: Excel narrowly misses 3-0 win

After the playoff participation was only determined in the last week of the game, Fnatic started in the Lower Bracket, and met with Excel on an equal opponent this season. Fnatic got the better start, but gave up a clear lead in the first game, and then had to give up the second game.

Excel continued to be the stronger team for a long time in the third game, but let Fnatic back into the game in a chaotic game and missed a great chance to win 3-0 just before the end. With the connection, Fnatics struck the hour: the team secured the two remaining games and made the comeback perfectly.

Misfits causes few difficulties for G2

G2 was able to assert itself more confidently the day before. Led by a top performance of the midlaner Rasmus "caPs" Winther, the defending champion beat Misfits in the second game, but did not give the opponent a chance in the remaining games and won with a score of 3: 1.

"Our summer has been full of ups and downs, but things have been going much better in the last few weeks. As long as we win the split and perform well at the World Cup, it's all I want," caPs said in an interview after the game.
