FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere are in the final of the "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" tournament IEM Cologne. The teams confidently beat Movistar Riders and Astralis in the semi-finals and thus compete against each other in a prestigious final in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne before the summer break.
"I said in advance that everything except the final in Cologne would be a disappointment. And that's where we are now," FaZe announcer Finn "karrigan" Andersen said in an interview after the game. "The team that wins tomorrow, in my opinion, is the best in the world.»
Astralis has never reached the final in Cologne, and this time they did not make it to the final either. While Navi got off to a much better start and confidently secured the first map, it got much tighter on the second. But Astralis squandered a certain advantage and paved the way for Navi to the final, where the team could succeed in defending the title.
With Movistar Riders, FaZe faced the surprise team of the tournament and thus a task that should not be underestimated, but mastered it without any problems. Already on the first card, the major winner quickly pulled away, and played out the advantage to the lead despite small difficulties. Even on the second map, Movistar did not make a comeback despite improved performance, with which the team still said a respectable goodbye.
The final on Sunday will thus be a repeat of the Major final match in which FaZe prevailed over Navi. Canadian Dane Karrigan is hoping for the support of the fans. "Thank you for the support, and I hope that we will step on the gas tomorrow," he said on Canadian towards the audience.
