South Korean Park "Dark" Ryung-woo has won the title at the Dreamhack Starcraft 2 Masters in Valencia. In the final, he defeated Cho "Maru" Seong-ju (4:3).

Inveterate SC2 fans could feel reminded of old times when looking at the tournament tree, because the semi-finals were purely Korean. In the history of Starcraft 2, the Koreans have long accounted for the international tournament victories among themselves.

That has changed in recent years, but in Valencia, the top Korean players showed that they have by no means lost their old class. In the finale, Dark and Maru offered the fans a gripping series over the full distance.

World Champion Serral cancelled tournament at short notice

The European field of participants was weakened: Joona "Serral" Sotala, the world champion from Finland, had canceled his participation at short notice for personal reasons.

Vice World Champion Riccardo "Reynor" Romiti left his group with a clean slate. In the match against Kang "Solar" Min-soo, the Italian surprised with an unusual maneuver.

Reynor changed his faction against the Zerg player, actually he also plays as Zerg, and competed as Protoss. The strategy worked, Reynor won the match against Solar significantly (2:0). However, his tournament run ended in the quarterfinals against Maru (1:3).

The three German participants were eliminated after a strong group stage already in the first rounds of the playoffs. Tobias "ShoWTimE" Sieber lost in the round-of-24 against the South Korean Kim "herO" Joon-ho (1:3).

The Protoss player herO eliminated the next German one round later with Julian "Lambo" Brosig (1:3). Gabriel "HeroMarine" Segat also failed in the round of eight against Maru (1:3).
