At the end of the group stage of the Dota 2 World Cup in Singapore, Evil Geniuses from North America and Tundra Esports from Western Europe are at the top of their groups. The two favorites are PSG.LGD and Team Spirit have so far fallen short of expectations.

The apparently best team of the group stage was EG, which won Group A with a score of 7-0-2. Tundra Esports narrowly beat Team Secret for first place in Group B.

Especially Western European teams were able to distinguish themselves in the group stage. The region alone represents half of the teams in the upper bracket. Gaimin Gladiators is the only team from Western Europe to compete in the lower bracket. The tournament favorites of PSG.LGD played to a comfortable third place in Group A, but this is below expectations for the team.

The reigning world champions of Team Spirit were surprisingly only able to reach the bottom bracket after winning the Arlington Major. With a score of 1-7-1, the Eastern Europeans could only draw against most teams. The playoffs of the Dota 2 World Cup will start on 20.10. and will be broadcast on their own World Cup channels.
