Riot Games had gone ahead with the "Game Changers" series in Valorant, now the ESL is following suit: with the "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" Women's Circuit, a separate tournament series for women players will start in 2023.
The new series is scheduled to begin in March with an offline league for Europe and North America each. After three months, the best teams will meet at a final event at Dreamhack Dallas in June.
The second season follows from August to October, with the final being played at Dreamhack Winter in Sweden. In July, another tournament is scheduled to take place between the seasons at Dreamhack Valencia. A total of 500,000 US dollars in prize money will be paid out over the three events.
As part of the initiative called "#GGforall", a players' council is also to be created. There will also be a discussion about the inclusion of the winning teams in the ESL Pro Tour, which is not limited to gender, but has so far been male-dominated. In addition, there is a development program for new commentator talents for the broadcasts.
