With only two matches won in the group stage, Canadian Team G2 Esports advances to the playoffs of the Rainbow Six Major in Charlotte.
"Heroic saved us again," wrote the only Canadian of the tournament, Rogues Kevin "Prano" Pranowitz on Twitter after the successful qualification. The first-placed player of the European League, Heroic, lost twice to G2 in the group stage of the major.
After a short break, G2 has to prove itself against the South American team Liquid. Team BDS, which also qualified for the playoffs, will face Oxygen Esports.
The venue of the tournament in the USA led to visa problems for international players, as the visas were issued too late or not at all. For example, Elevate's Thai squad was disqualified from the tournament, while three Latin American teams from Mexico participate online. At one of them, Team oNe, even only a part of the players arrived in Charlotte in time. Due to the qualification for the playoffs, the remaining players now also have the opportunity to fly to the USA.
