Cloud9 has secured the championship in the North American League of Legends League LCS. In the final, the team won against 100 Thieves and thus goes into the upcoming World Championship in North America as the highest seeded team.

"To come back to C9 after a split break and win straight away, I didn't expect that," Nicolai "Jensen" Jensen said in an interview after the game. "We complement each other very well in how we want to play the game. We are very selfless and understood how we play as a team.»

Cloud9: Glory in summer after chaos in spring

Over the season, several teams had alternated with the favorite status. After a chaotic spring, Cloud9 had brought Jensen and former G2 botlaner Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen back into the lineup as support. In the regular season, it was only enough for fifth place. But in the playoffs, Cloud9 played at its best and in the end also dominated the final game.

100 Thieves led by the German Midlaner Felix "Abbedagge" Braun still participates in the World Cup as a finalist, but is set lower after the defeat and must expect stronger teams.

Team Liquid became a disappointment: despite the signing of Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg as well as the Europeans Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau and Steven "Hans sama" Liv, the organization narrowly missed the World Cup after a defeat against Evil Geniuses. With TSM, another big name had previously dropped out after a weak season.

The last Worlds participant has been confirmed

On Saturday, the last remaining open participant for the Worlds was already determined: in the final of the Turkish league TCL, Istanbul Wildcats prevailed 3-2 against Fenerbahçe Esports. The Wildcats thus qualified for the play-in phase of the World Cup.
