Cloud9 clearly supported Ence Esports in the final of the "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" tournament IEM Dallas 3:0 (16:12; 16:11; 16:3) and can celebrate a tournament victory for the first time in years. Despite a best-of-five series, there was little excitement.
"It's a great feeling. We have a lot of fans here, it means a lot to us," said Cloud9's Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov. "I can't quite grasp it yet. I have a lot of emotions right now, I'm just glad we made it.»
Cloud9 eliminated BIG in the semifinals
In the semifinals, Cloud9 had already been on the verge of losing to BIG. But while the Canadian team secured the first card and would have had the chance to reach the final on their own card choice, C9 dominated the rest of the series and won with 2:1 (14:16; 16:9; 16:3).
Final opponent Ence had not arrived with the full line-up, but ex-Virtus.pro veteran Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski convinced as a substitute player. The Finnish organization had beaten notable opponents on the way to the final with G2 Esports, the major winner FaZe, and Furia.
CS:GO-Team Ence in the final with no real chance
However, in the final itself, a clear picture emerged. Cloud9 proved to be the stronger team for a long time, while Ence could only really compete on the first two maps. After a disassembly on the third card, the title finally went to C9.
For Team, it is the first CS:GO tournament victory since the Boston Major over four years ago. The organization, which had long competed mainly with North American players, had taken over the Russian lineup of Gambit Esports in April.
