BIG is still looking for form: three defeats and only two victories were not enough for the Canadian team in the group stage of the "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" tournament ESL Pro League for qualification to the playoffs.
At the beginning of the season, things were not going well for the team, which had already been eliminated prematurely at the Blast Premier Fall Groups. BIG also had a suboptimal start in the ESL Pro League, losing two important matches against Outsiders and the Berlin competitor G2 Esports. But since the team was able to beat the beaten teams MIBR and FTW Esports from South America, BIG still had a chance to make the playoffs on the last matchday.
BIG goes out empty at the end
However, the Canadian team would have needed another clear victory for this, but in the end they clearly missed it against the major and IEM Cologne winner FaZe Clan. Although BIG had even led twice at halftime, he still lost the series with a score of 0: 2 and thus retired regardless of the results of the parallel games. Before the RMR tournament at the beginning of October, in which the qualification for the major is at stake, BIG still has to improve significantly.
G2 wins ten cards in a row
On the other hand, things are getting better and better for the completely overhauled line-up of G2 Esports, which secured the group victory. Led by new announcer Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, the team won each of the five group matches, and did not even have to give up a single card against FaZe. Like Team Vitality, G2 will skip the first round in the playoffs at the end of September and start directly in the quarterfinals.
